Investigation Report Information

 

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection / Tehama County Fire Department are committed to investigating every fire that occurs within their jurisdiction. Those investigations are documented on reports that are available to the public under certain conditions.

Government Code Section 6254 (f) identifies certain information that must be made available to victims of specified crimes and incidents unless release of the information would endanger the safety of a person or the successful completion of the investigation. The types of incidents identified are: arson, burglary, fire, explosion, robbery, vehicle theft, crimes of violence, vandalism, and larceny.

The information must be provided to the following: victim of the incident, an authorized representative of the victim, an insurance carrier against which a claim has been or might be made, and any person suffering bodily injury or property damage as a result of the incident.

Members of the public or insurance companies that require an investigation report and fall within the above guidelines can request a copy of the original report.

Information needed to request the report are: name, address, telephone number of the requester, date of the incident, physical address of the incident, type of incident and incident number if available.
